Innovation Inspiration and Invention
Sunday Thoughts
This week I read an article on line that discussed the difference in how free time is used today versus how things were when, say, I grew up. Even though generalities were drawn and discussed, I do think that the young people today spend too much time attached to an electronic device. This really is just another form of entertainment that requires little imagination and little to no physical movement.
Imagination is something that needs to be activated and exercised. Innovation needs freedom to try and fail. Invention requires both of these. A box of junk, an able mind and some time may actually lead to a beautiful inspiration that leads to a new invention. When I have time to just sit with my art supplies, sometimes it takes awhile for the creative juices to start flowing. I think creativity needs time to awaken. After awhile, and a few small attempts at projects that aren’t going anywhere fast, something will click. It often is the same way with writing. The ability to write needs to be exercised. Sometimes, I just have to give myself permission to write about nothing and then toss it out.
I admire this quote from Thomas A. Edison and would add the word time to the quote. Time, imagination and a box of junk could very well lead to the next amazing invention. Give yourself time to play this week. See where it takes you.
Until next time, create!

Sunday Thoughts are my posts that are not typical for this site. They came about because I wanted to share a more artistic photo with you and these photos usually bring about some thoughts that need to be shared too. I hope you enjoy this change from our normal posts and homesteading information.

Excellent quote. In this day and age, it is so difficult to disconnect from all the electronics and open yourself up to creative thoughts. Heck, I even have difficulty openning a book to read it as I am now so used to reading them on a device instead! Hoping to extricate myself from the recliner and ipad this morning to not only go outside and do some chores, but afterwards maybe spend a little time in the workshop allowing creative juices to flow. Thanks for the reminder!
It’s hard for me too. I love my electronics. But they do seem to stifle my creativity. I need to spend more time in my studio/junk room
